Temple of Sting
was started in 1997 by Janine Papp, who wanted to express her
love of bees and hatred of Sting (which is based on a longstanding
in-joke plus a pun, really). Janine has also always loved music
and wanted a chance to tell the world about her favorite bands.
Well, the diabolical plan has worked, and so far 5 issues have
been produced.
Along the way, Temple of Sting has received death threats from Sting fans (true!); won an award for "Best Conspiracy Zine" at Royal Fest; met many other interesting zine editors; attended some great zine festivals; was part of a panel about zines at CMJ; interviewed some amazing bands; and even got a few other people to occasionally contribute to the zine. For the most part, all writing, layout, design, editing, etc. is done by Janine, aka the Queen Bee.
